Green Card validity is extended for the applicants who have pending form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, and form I-829, Petition by Investor to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status for 48 months starting from the card’s expiration date. The change has been effective since January 11, 2023, for I-829 and it has been effective since January 25, 2023, for I-751. The reason for this change is due to USCIS’s increased processing times for Form I-751 and Form I-829. The applicants with a lately filed I-751 and I-829 will receive receipt notices that extend the validity of the Green Card. The receipt notices presented with the expired green cards will be used as proof of continued status while their case is pending with USCIS. Applicants will remain authorized to work and travel for 48 months from the expiration date on their Green Card.
