USCIS Has Been Issuing EAD Cards Without The Advance Parole

Since 2011 USCIS has been issuing employment and travel authorization on a single card which is called a combo card for the green card applicants who are filing an Adjustment of Status Application. This card allows applicants to carry a single document that can be used for travel and as work authorization.

Because of the serious EAD backlog, USCIS has stopped producing combo cards. Instead, they will be sent separately and applicants may experience receiving their EAD cards before the Advance Parole. Please note that the EAD card itself does not serve as Advance Parole and does not permit applicants to travel and re-enter the United States. Applicants must have the Advance Parole issued by USCIS to travel.
