Implementation of DOS Final Rule: Increased Consular Services Fees

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has implemented a final rule that increases several application processing fees and the fee for a Border Crossing Card for Mexican citizens aged 15 and above. The rule will come into effect on May 30, 2023, as documented in the Federal Register (88 FR 18243, March 28, 2023).
The following fee changes have been introduced by the rule:
The application processing fee for non-petition based Nonimmigrant Visas (NIVs) (excluding the E category) will be raised from $160 to $185.
The application processing fee for NIVs in the H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories will be increased from $190 to $205.
The fee for NIVs in the E category will be raised from $205 to $315.
The processing fee for Border Crossing Cards for Mexican citizens aged 15 and above will be increased from $160 to $185.
However, the fee for the exchange visitor waiver of the two-year residency requirement will remain unchanged at $120.
