USCIS has issued new guidance on mobile biometrics collection and collecting biometrics from benefit requestors in remote locations in coordination with law enforcement agencies or other DHS components. This update is effective immediately and is aimed at making biometrics collection more accessible for those who cannot attend appointments at USCIS Application Support Centers due to various issues. The guidance provides alternative methods to fingerprint collection and makes minor edits to existing language. The USCIS may also make other technical and stylistic changes consistent with this update. The guidance is contained in Volume 1 of the Policy Manual and is controlling and supersedes any related prior guidance. Comments on the guidance are due by April 7, 2023.
