Department of State Releases Immigrant Visa Waiting List Report for November 1, 2022

The Department of State (DOS) has presented a report obtained from the National Visa Center (NVC) that displays the complete count of immigrant visa petitioners waiting in line under different categories and subcategories of family and employment preferences, subject to numerical limits, as of November 1, 2022. It should be noted that the figures only account for the petitions that have been received by DOS.

The majority of immigrant visa applicants qualify for status based on family relationships or employer sponsorship, and their entitlement to visa processing is established through approval by USCIS. Each case is assigned a priority date, and applicants are advised to submit required documents when their priority date is within the application filing dates published each month by the Department of State. It should be noted that the family-sponsored and employment-based totals reported this year are significantly higher than usual due to COVID-19-related issues that have impeded overseas post processing of such cases since April 2020, causing retention at NVC and inclusion in this year’s report.
