The H-2B program allows U.S. employers or U.S. agents who meet specific regulatory requirements to bring foreign nationals to the United States to fill temporary nonagricultural jobs. Every fiscal year Congress set 66, 000 visas available for noncitizens. As a result of the need for seasonal workers, the Department of Homeland Security announced that an additional 64, 716 H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker visas will be available for fiscal year (FY) 2023. The first 20,000 visas for workers from Haiti and the Central American countries of Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador and the remaining 44, 716 supplemental visas will be available to returning workers who received an H-2B visa, or were otherwise granted H-2B status, during one of the last three fiscal years.
